My name is Karen and I started Quince in 2016, but really my journey started much longer ago; in fact I realise that almost everything in my past has brought me to this point.  I studied art history and fell in love with the portraits that so often feature magnificent jewels, that tell the history and the status of the sitter.  The iconography of jewellery and stones is a fascinating story.

Years later I created an exhibition on the History of the Engagement Ring, the magic and myths around these important heirloom jewels.  I worked with many design colleges, supporting young designers and helping their dreams come true with stone merchants and workshops around Hatton Garden. Years in the diamond business gave me a deep understanding about how jewellery is made and a different perspective on how design has evolved over time.  Truly the techniques of the silver and goldsmith has changed little for centuries. 

One of my best friends lives in India and through her I have also discovered some amazing artisans and stone dealers who I now visit every year.  Everything in the collection is designed by me and either made by me or someone in my workshop.
